Anand Singh

Prof. Anand Singh is faculty in Department of History at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. Earlier Dr. Singh was a Professor and Head in Department of Historical studies and Archaeology at CUSB, Gaya. He also served as a professor and later as the Dean of School of Historical studies at Nalanda International University. He has also held faculty positions at Lucknow University and Gautam Buddha University in Noida. Prof. Singh has an extensive background in research in addition to his amazing teaching career. Buddhist Narrative Literature, Buddhism with special reference to the Ganga Valley, Buddhist Environmentalism, Archaeological Landscape, and Sacred Geography of Buddhism are among his primary areas of study. He has effectively finished a number of research projects that have been aided by several organizations, including the ICHR, New Delhi, UGC, SAARC Colombo, Sri Lanka. His publications include more than 45 research articles which have appeared in reputed journals. He has 7 books to his credit including “Planet, Plants and animals: Ecological Paradigms in Buddhism” (Primus books, 2019), “Water, Environmental and Corporeal traditions in Buddhism” (Routledge 2025) and the “Nalanda: A Glorious Past” (Primus Books, 2024). In addition, he has edited a number of books and written other book chapters.
